Search Engine Optimization |
|
This article is the first of many that will help you to understand what to do in order to get your website noticed by search engines like Google. If Google indexes the pages of your website, and can read all the text content, AND finds that text content relevent to search terms, your website will appear higher up the results.
This means that your website will be more visible, get more hits, and make more money (if that is the aim).
The process of search engine optimisation can be separated into 2 parts:
- On-site Optimisation
- Off-site Optimisation
To get ahead immediately with off-site optimisation you would do well to get links from other sites pointing to yours. These are called backlinks. You can get many links by submitting your website to online directories and article directories. This is a time consuming business but the work can be done for you by experts at low prices at this website

For now there is quite a bit that can be done to ensure that your website has been fully optimised from the inside. This is on-site optimisation. This will be subject of the first few tutorials.

The coder, if they are any good, returns a website that is clean, user friendly, fully optimised and ready to be indexed by Google. The client looks at it and asks where all the flashy animated things are that they see on other websites. The coder stares for a moment then sighs deeply...

Using Meta Tags for Search Engine Optimization Purposes |
|
Meta tags are elements used in the HTML or XHTML code of a web page and their function is basically to provide information about other types of data which are present in a web page document, this information usually includes a simple description of what the web page is about, keywords that are relevant to the page's contents as well as a number of other essential bits of information. Meta tags are meant for search engines and crawlers searching the web for information to index and because of this reason they tend to be very useful for Search Engine Optimization purposes and can be an important factor in how well a website and it's pages perform in terms of search engine rankings.
